Nucleoside Diphosphate Linked Moiety X-Type Motif 11 (NUDT11)
NUDT11 belongs to a subgroup of phosphohydrolases that preferentially attack diphosphoinositol polyphosphates. The mRNA contains instability motifs, and the protein has a Nudix core domain flanked by a glycine (G) tripeptide on its N-terminal side and a GxxGxxxxxxG sequence on its C-terminal side. Northern blot analysis of several human tissues detected transcripts of 2.2 and 2.6 kb, likely corresponding to NUDT10 and NUDT11, respectively, only in testis. RT-PCR detected NUDT10 and NUDT11 expression in human female fibroblasts, but not in hybrids containing inactive X chromosomes, indicating that both genes are subject to X inactivation in human females. PCR analysis detected strong NUDT11 expression in brain, pancreas, and testis, with lower expression in lung, thymus, prostate, ovary, small intestine, and heart.
