Nucleosome Assembly Protein 1 Like Protein 5 (NAP1L5)

DRLM; Down-regulated in liver malignancy

Nucleosome Assembly Protein 1 Like Protein 5 (NAP1L5)
The deduced 182-amino acid protein has an N-terminal half similar to HSPD1 and a C-terminal half similar to the yeast nucleosome assembly protein. The authors also identified mouse Nap1l5, which shares 75% identity with human NAP1L5.
Northern blot analysis of human tissues detected a major NAP1L5 transcript between 2- and 2.3-kb, with highest expression in brain, followed by liver, kidney, heart, and skeletal muscle. Weak expression was detected in all other tissues, and a minor 5-kb transcript was also observed. Fluorescence-tagged NAP1L5 was expressed in the cytosol of transfected HeLa cells.expression of DRLM was downregulated in 5 of 13 HCC cell lines and in 7 of 16 primary HCCs in comparison with normal tissue.
