Nucleus Accumbens Associated Protein 1 (NAC1)
Members of the BTB/POZ family of transcriptional regulators, including BTBD14B, contain a conserved motif in the N-terminal region critical for protein-protein interactions and assembly of high molecular mass complexes . RT-PCR analysis detected mRNAs of both isoforms in all rat adult brain regions examined, as well as in spleen, skeletal muscle, heart, kidney, thymus, with lNac1 mRNAs 2.5-fold more abundant than sNac1 mRNAs. Western blot analysis detected both lNac1 and sNac1 in multiple regions of the mature rat CNS including nucleus accumbens, caudate putamen, cerebellum, olfactory tubercle, and prefrontal cortex, with the lNac1 isoform more abundant throughout. Expression of lNac1 was detected in adult rat heart, liver, kidney, spleen, testis, and skeletal muscle, whereas sNac1 was detected only in liver.
