Olfactomedin 2 (OLFM2)
Noelin-2 is a protein encoded by the OLFM2 gene. The gene contains 8 different gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 6 different mRNAs, 5 alternatively spliced variants and 1 unspliced form. There are 3 probable alternative promotors and 2 non overlapping alternative last exons. The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 5' end, truncation of the 3' end, overlapping exons with different boundaries. 5 spliced mRNAs putatively encode good proteins, altogether 5 different isoforms (3 complete, 1 COOH complete, 1 partial), some containing Olfactomedin-like domain , a coiled coil stretch ; 1 of the 3 complete proteins appears to be secreted. The remaining mRNA variant (unspliced; partial) appears not to encode a good protein. There are 2 articles specifically referring to this gene in PubMed.
