Olfactory Receptor 1L1 (OR1L1)

OR1L2

Olfactory Receptor 1L1 (OR1L1)
Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. The nomenclature assigned to the olfactory receptor genes and proteins for this organism is independent of other organisms. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on alignments. The coding region has been updated to shorten the N-terminus to one that is more supported by available protein data.OR1L1 lacks transcript support, possibly because OR genes are expressed in only a very small fraction of olfactory neurons, and thus, transcript evidence may be difficult to detect for all functional genes.
