Olfactory Receptor 7D4 (OR7D4)

OR7D4P; hg105; OR19-B; Odorant receptor family subfamily D member 4RT

Olfactory Receptor 7D4 (OR7D4)
Human odor receptor OR7D4 was selectively activated in vitro by androstenone and the related odorous steroid androstadienone, and that it did not respond to a panel of 64 other odors and 2 solvents. The chimpanzee OR7D4 ortholog differs from the human OR7D4 reference sequence at 5 amino acid residues.Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals.
