One Cut Homeobox Protein 3 (ONECUT3)

ONECUT3 gene has the same structure as the ONECUT1 and ONECUT2 genes, with a first coding exon that includes the cut box and a second coding exon that includes the homeobox.The deduced mouse and human proteins share 90% overall sequence identity and 100% sequence identity in the cut domain. Their cut domains are 97% identical to the cut domain in ONECUT1. RT-PCR showed Onecut3 expression only in mouse brain, stomach, and gut (specifically the duodenum and jejunum).Like Onecut1 and Onecut2, Onecut3 stimulated transcription of the promoters of Hnf3b (FOXA2) and Ttr . the expression patterns of ONECUT3 are similar but not identical to those of ONECUT1 and ONECUT2, suggesting that the functions of these 3 genes may be only partially redundant.
