Out At First Protein (OAF)

NS5ATP13TP2; HCV NS5A-Transactivated Protein 13 Target Protein 2

Out At First Protein (OAF)
Belongs to the OAF family. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) non-structural 5A (NS5A) protein has generated wide interest in HCV research because of its ability to modulate the host cell interferon (IFN) response. The protein is phosphorylated on multiple sites by host cell kinases and interacts with host cell membranes. it is an essential component of the HCV replicase and exerts a wide range of effects on cellular pathways and processes, including innate immunity and host cell growth and proliferation. Its ability to modulate multiple cellular pathways, and its recently described structural attributes, subcellular localization, and function during HCV replication.
