Oxidative Stress Induced Growth Inhibitor 2 (OSGIN2)
C8ORF1 is predicted to contain several phosphorylation sites and 1 N-glycosylation site and to be localized in the cytoplasm. Northern blot analysis of HeLa and NBS cells revealed C8ORF1 transcripts of 4.3, 3.8, and 2.9 kb. Expression is ubiquitous in normal tissues, with higher levels in testis and ovary.
Tauchi et al. (1999) determined that the gene for C8ORF1 contains 6 exons and spans approximately 25 kb. The gene is unlikely to be coregulated with NBS1 because of the tail-to-tail arrangement of the 2 genes. By computer-assisted analysis of 5 BAC clones and an EST sequence, Tauchi et al. (1999) defined the genomic organization of an 800-kb region on chromosome 8q21 as 5-prime C8ORF1, 3-prime NBS1, 5-prime DECR1 , and 3-prime CALB1.
