PDLIM1 Interacting Kinase 1 Like Protein (PDIK1L)

CLIK1L; Serine/threonine-protein kinase PDIK1L

PDLIM1 Interacting Kinase 1 Like Protein (PDIK1L)
The deduced 341-amino acid PDIK1L protein shares 69% and 27% sequence identity with CLIK1 (STK35), which interacts with PDZ-LIM proteins, and mouse serine/threonine protein kinase-33 (STK33), respectively. PDIK1L contains a predicted serine/threonine protein kinase catalytic domain, including a conserved active site signature and a protein kinase ATP-binding region. Because bioinformatics analysis suggested that the putative kinase may interact with PDZ and LIM domain proteins, Guo et al. (2003) named the protein PDLIM1-interacting kinase-1-like. By PCR analysis, Guo et al. (2003) detected PDIK1L expression in human liver, kidney, pancreas, spleen, thymus, and prostate, with lower expression detected in placenta, heart, and brain. Immunofluorescence studies localized PDIK1L to the nucleus in COS-7 cells.
