PHD Finger Protein 20 Like Protein 1 (PHF20L1)

PHF20L1 contains one PHD type zinc finger. The PHF20L1 gene encodes two different proteins that share one coding exon, but the coding sequences do not overlap. The stop codon for the first protein is upstream of the start for the second protein, resulting in two entirely different gene products. One of the gene products resembles the N terminus of PHF20; the other contains a PHD type zinc finger.

PHF20L1 maps on chromosome 8, at 8q24.22. the gene has been proposed to participate in a process (regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent). Proteins are expected to have molecular functions (nucleic acid binding, protein binding, zinc ion binding) and to localize in nucleus.
