Palmdelphin (PALMD)

PALML; C1orf11; Paralemmin Like Protein

Palmdelphin (PALMD)
It has an N-terminal coiled-coil region that shares 45% amino acid identity with an N-terminal region in AKAP2 . Overall, PALML shares 36% amino acid identity with paralemmin (PALM). The shorter PALML variant encodes a deduced 471-amino acid protein that, compared with long isoform, lacks the N-terminal coiled-coil region and differs in the first 19 amino acids. Northern blot analysis detected a 2.4-kb PALML transcript enriched in testis, prostate, heart, and skeletal muscle. No expression was detected in brain and peripheral blood leukocytes, and alternative transcripts were detected in heart, liver, and skeletal muscle. Epitope-tagged PALML was expressed throughout the cytoplasm of transfected COS-7 cells and was excluded from the nucleus.
