Patched Domain Containing Protein 2 (PTCHD2)

DISP3; Protein dispatched homolog 3

Patched Domain Containing Protein 2 (PTCHD2)
By sequencing clones obtained from a fetal brain cDNA library, Nagase et al. (2000) cloned PTCHD2, which they designated KIAA1337. RT-PCR ELISA of human tissues detected moderate expression in fetal brain, adult brain, and testis, with moderate expression in all brain regions examined.
By database searching with DISP1 as query, Katoh and Katoh (2005) identified PTCHD2, which they called DISP3. The deduced 1,392-amino acid protein is predicted to be a multispan transmembrane protein with a Patched homologous region and shares 20.5% amino acid identity with DISP1. EST database analysis detected PTCHD2 expression in embryonic stem cells, fetal and adult brain, testis, as well as lung carcinoid, neuroblastoma, retinoblastoma, and brain tumors.
