Phosphatidic Acid Phosphatase Type 2 Domain Containing Protein 3 (PPAPDC3)

NET39; C9orf67; Probable lipid phosphate phosphatase PPAPDC3

Phosphatidic Acid Phosphatase Type 2 Domain Containing Protein 3 (PPAPDC3)
PPAPDC3 Belongs to the PA-phosphatase related phosphoesterase family. Plays a role as negative regulator of myoblast differentiation, in part through effects on MTOR signaling. Has no detectable enzymatic activity. Plays a role as negative regulator of myoblast differentiation, in part through effects on MTOR signaling. Has no detectable enzymatic activity.
The polyisoprenoid diphosphates farnesyl diphosphate (FPP) and geranylgeranyl diphosphate (GGPP) are intermediates in the synthesis of cholesterol and related sterols by the mevalonate pathway and precursors for the addition of isoprenyl anchors to many membrane proteins. In vitro, recombinant PDP1/PPAPDC2 preferentially hydrolyzed polyisoprenoid diphosphates, including FPP and GGPP over a variety of glycerol- and sphingo-phospholipid substrates.
