Placenta Expressed Transcript 1 (PLET1)

Zhao et al. (2004) cloned mouse and pig Plet1 and identified human PLET1 by genomic sequence analysis. Plet1 was highly expressed in conceptus and placenta in mouse and pig, but Northern blot analysis of human placenta failed to detect PLET1 expression. RT-PCR detected a small amount of partially spliced RNA in human placenta that was significantly less abundant than that found in mouse placenta.

Depreter et al. (2008) detected high expression of Plet1 in mouse thymic epithelial progenitor cells. In adult mouse tissues, Plet1 was expressed in mammary and prostate epithelia and in pancreatic duct epithelium. RT-PCR of human fetal thymus failed to show PLET1 expression.
