Pleiotropic Regulator 1 (PLRG1)
By searching databases for sequences similar to the Arabidopsis pleiotropic regulator locus-1 (Prl1) gene, Nemeth et al. (1998) identified a cDNA encoding the human ortholog, PLRG1.
The deduced 514-amino acid basically charged protein, which is 59% identical to the plant sequence, contains multiple C-terminal WD40 repeats. Immunofluorescence microscopy demonstrated expression in green monkey cell nuclei. Immunoblot analysis indicated that PLRG1 interacts with the C terminus of the beta II isoform of protein kinase C, but not with its beta I isoform or with protein kinase C-gamma (PRKCG).The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the PLRG1 gene to chromosome 4.
