Poly ADP Ribose Polymerase 15 (PARP15)
pART7; ARTD7; BAL3; ADP-ribosyltransferase diphtheria toxin-like 7; B-aggressive lymphoma protein 3
PARP15 is a macrodomain-containing transcriptional repressor with poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase activity. By database analysis using PARP9 as query, followed by 5-prime and 3-prime RACE of normal mature B cells and primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cells, Aguiar et al. (2005) cloned PARP15, which they called BAL3.
The deduced 656-amino acid protein contains 2 N-terminal macrodomains and a C-terminal PARP domain. PARP15 mediated transcriptional repression, although at levels lower than that observed in PARP9, and the PARP15 macrodomains were required for repression. PARP15 recombinant protein displayed DNA-independent poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase catalytic activity.PARP15, PARP9, and PARP14 mapped in tandem within a 200-kb region on chromosome 3q21.
