Potassium Channel Subfamily K, Member 15 (KCNK15)

KCNK11; KCNK14; KT3.3; TASK5; Acid-sensitive potassium channel protein TASK-5; TWIK-related acid-sensitive K(+) channel 5; Two pore potassium channel KT3.3

Potassium Channel Subfamily K, Member 15 (KCNK15)
KCNK15 shares about 51% overall amino acid identity with KCNK3 and KCNK9. Sequences within TMD1 and TMD4 of KCNK15 share about 80% identity with those of KCNK3 and KCNK9, but the C termini of these proteins are highly divergent. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of 7-, 4.4-, and 2.6-kb transcripts primarily in the adrenal gland and pancreas. RT-PCR showed expression in heart, skeletal muscle, testis, thyroid gland, adrenal gland, salivary gland, and pancreas.KCNK15 has 4 transmembrane domains (TMDs) and 2 loops, one between TMD1 and TMD2 and the other between TMD3 and TMD4. The loops contain the canonical GYG/GFG sequence of the K(+) channel pore. KCNK15 also has 2 putative protein kinase C phosphorylation sites and a protein kinase A phosphorylation site.
