KCa4.2; SLICK; SLO2.1; Sodium And Chloride Activated ATP Sensitive Potassium Channel; Sequence like an intermediate conductance potassium channel subunit

Potassium Channel Subfamily T, Member 2 (KCNT2)
The KCNT2 protein contains 1,135 amino acids and is 98% identical to rat Kcnt2. KCNT2 contains 6 predicted transmembrane domains, a P (pore) region between predicted transmembrane domains 5 and 6, numerous PKC and cAMP-dependent PKC phosphorylation sites, and a large C-terminal region containing a PDZ-binding motif, 2 RCK domains, and an ATP-binding domain. The N-terminal domain of KCNT2 is half the size of that of KCNT1; both N termini are predicted to be cytosolic. Northern blot analysis of rat tissues showed a 6.9-kb transcript expressed strongly in brain and weakly in heart. Immunohistochemistry on rat brain showed that Kcnt2 is widely distributed throughout the brain, including strong expression in the CA1 region of the hippocampus, where Kcnt1 expression was undetectable.
