Potassium Channel Tetramerisation Domain Containing Protein 16 (KCTD16)

BTB/POZ domain-containing protein KCTD16

Potassium Channel Tetramerisation Domain Containing Protein 16 (KCTD16)
The deduced protein contains 435 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA of human tissues detected high expression in whole adult brain with lower expression in fetal brain and adult pancreas, testis, lung, kidney, and ovary. Expression was weak in fetal lung and not detected in other tissues. Robust KCTD16 expression was detected in all specific adult brain regions examined, with very high expression in amygdala followed by caudate nucleus and hippocampus.
This coassembly changes the properties of the GABA-B(1,2) core receptor: the KCTD proteins increase agonist potency and markedly alter the G protein signaling of the receptors by accelerating onset and promoting desensitization in a KCTD subtype-specific manner.
