Preimplantation Protein 3 (PREI3)

PREI3 was identified based on its similarity with the mouse counterpart. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that the expression of this gene may be regulated during oocyte maturation and preimplantation following zygotic gene activation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been observed.

Immunofluorescence analysis of NIH 3T3 mouse fibroblasts detected Mob1 in a punctate distribution throughout the cytoplasm, with high concentration close to the nuclear membrane. Mob1 colocalized with striatin and S/G2 nuclear autoantigen (Sg2na). Western blot analysis detected MOB1 as a 24-kD doublet.Immunoprecipitation analysis of NIH 3T3 cells detected about a third of endogenous Mob1 in a complex with striatin and another third associated with Sg2na.
