Human PRA1 shows 95% amino acid sequence identity with the rat protein sequence. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of an 0.8-kb transcript in all cell lines examined. Dot-blot analysis revealed strongest expression in placenta, pituitary gland, kidney, and stomach. Western blot analysis showed that PRA1 is expressed as an approximately 21-kD protein that is equally distributed between cytosol and membranes.The authors proposed that the conserved Yip proteins serve as GDI displacement factors for the targeting of Rab GTPases in eukaryotic cells.
