Programmed Cell Death Protein 11 (PDCD11)
PDCD11 is a NF-kappa-B (NFKB1; 164011)-binding protein that colocalizes with U3 RNA in the nucleolus and is required for rRNA maturation and generation of 18S rRNA.
PDCD11 protein contains 7 S1 RNA-binding domains and a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) repeat and shares 82% and 26% identities with the mouse Pdcd11 and S. cerevisiae Rrp5 orthologs, respectively. Northern blot analysis detected a 5.5-kb PDCD11 transcript in several cell lines and tissues. Immunofluorescence studies localized PDCD11 to granular aggregates in the nucleus and was confirmed to be nucleolar by mass spectrometry of proteins isolated from HeLa cell nucleoli.
