Protein Kinase C Delta Binding Protein (PRKCdBP)

SRBC; HSRBC; Cavin-3; Sdr-Related Gene Product That Binds To C-Kinase; Serum deprivation response factor-related gene product that binds to C-kinase

Protein Kinase C Delta Binding Protein (PRKCdBP)
PRKCDBPwas identified as a binding protein of the protein kinase C, delta (PRKCD). The expression of this gene in cultured cell lines is strongly induced by serum starvation. The expression of this protein was found to be down-regulated in various cancer cell lines, suggesting the possible tumor suppressor function of this protein.
This protein shows overall sequence similarity (43.3%) to the serum deprivation response (sdr) gene product, named SRBC (sdr-related gene product that binds to c-kinase). PKCdelta binds to the C-terminal half of SRBC through the regulatory domain and phosphorylates it in vitro. In COS1 cells, the phosphorylation of over-expressed SRBC is stimulated by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate and further enhanced by the over-expression of PKCdelta.
