Protein Phosphatase 1, Regulatory Subunit 14A (PPP1R14A)
PPP1R14A is a phosphorylation-dependent inhibitor of smooth muscle myosin phosphatase. Human and pig PPP1R14A share 93% sequence similarity, including a conserved PKC phosphorylation motif containing a threonine that is phosphorylated in pig. PPP1R14A shares about 87% similarity with mouse and rat Ppp1r14a, but the murine proteins have calculated pIs that are significantly less basic than that of human PPP1R14A, which is 10.21. a 0.6-kb transcript in all human tissues examined, with highest levels in heart, prostate, testis, ovary, colon, small intestine, and pancreas. The tissue distributions of human and porcine PPP1R14A were similar, but they differed from those of rat and mouse Ppp1r14a, which were more specific. Murine Ppp1r14a expression was high in lung, moderate in testis and brain, and low in heart.
