(1998) identified a family of genes encoding LIP1-related proteins, or liprins. The sequence of the predicted partial 500-amino acid liprin-alpha-4 protein is 75% identical to that of LIP1. Northern blot analysis revealed that the liprin-alpha-4 gene is expressed as a 7.5-kb mRNA only in heart, brain, and skeletal muscle.
