Protocadherin 17 (PCDH17)

PCDH68; PCH68; Protocadherin-68

Protocadherin 17 (PCDH17)
Protocadherin-17 is a protein belongs to the protocadherin gene family, a subfamily of the cadherin superfamily. The encoded protein contains six extracellular cadherin domains, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail differing from those of the classical cadherins. PCDH17 was consistently enriched in the frontal and anterior temporal cortices.
PCDH17 was also present in high levels in the exterior margins of the thalamus, ventromedial striatal neuroepithelium, and anterior cingulate. The pattern of PCDH17 expression in embryonic rat and mouse brains was enriched in the anterior cerebral cortical anlage, similar to human fetal brain. PCDH17 may be susceptible to promoter methylation and gene silencing.
