Psoriasis Susceptibility 1 Candidate 1 (PSORS1C1)

SEEK1; C6orf16

Psoriasis Susceptibility 1 Candidate 1 (PSORS1C1)
Holm et al. (2003) identified 2 SEEK1 splice variants. One variant includes all 6 exons and encodes a deduced 152-amino acid protein that shares weak similarity with Cu-Zn superdioxide dismutase (SOD1). The other variant contains only exons 1 and 6 and encodes a deduced 101-amino acid protein with a unique 5-amino acid N terminus followed by a sequence identical to the C terminus of the 152-amino acid isoform. Northern blot analysis detected transcripts of 6 and 1.8 kb that showed weak expression in heart, placenta, liver, skeletal muscle, and pancreas, and very weak expression in brain, lung, and kidney.Holm et al. (2003) determined that the SEEK1 gene contains 6 exons and spans 25.2 kb. Exons 1 and 3 contain translational start sites.Holm et al. (2003) mapped the SEEK1 gene to chromosome 6p21.3, where it overlaps the SPR1 and CDSN genes on the opposite strand.
