RIIa Domain Containing Protein 1 (RIIAD1)

C1orf230; Regulatory Subunit Of Type II PKA R-subunit (RIIa) Domain Containing 1

RIIa Domain Containing Protein 1 (RIIAD1)
RIIAD1 Contains 1 RIIa domain.RIIalpha, Regulatory subunit portion of type II PKA R-subunit. Contains dimerisation interface and binding site for A-kinase-anchoring proteins (AKAPs).Protein phosphorylation, which plays a key role in most cellular activities, is a reversible process mediated by protein kinases and phosphoprotein phosphatases. Protein kinases catalyse the transfer of the gamma phosphate from nucleotide triphosphates (often ATP) to one or more amino acid residues in a protein substrate side chain, resulting in a conformational change affecting protein function. Phosphoprotein phosphatases catalyse the reverse process. Two types of regulatory (R) subunits exist - types I and I - which differ in molecular weight, sequence, autophosphorylation cabaility, cellular location and tissue distribution.
