RIMS Binding Protein 2 (RIMBP2)

RIMBP2 protein has a unique N-terminal domain, followed by an SRC homology-3 (SH3) domain, 3 tandem fibronectin-like 3 (FN3) domains, and 2 C-terminal SH3 domains. It also has a proline-rich sequence in the linker region between the FN3 domains and the C-terminal SH3 domains. In situ hybridization of adult rat brain showed that Rimbp2 was expressed in neurons in a region-specific manner.

The deduced protein contains 1,106 amino acids. RT-PCR detected highest expression in testis, followed by brain, placenta, ovary, small intestine, and kidney, in order of decreasing expression. Other tissues showed little to no expression.the C-terminal halves of rat Rim1 (RIMS1) and Rim2 (RIMS2) interacted with Rimbp1 (BZRAP1) and Rimbp2.
