RIO Kinase 2 (RIOK2)

Serine/threonine-protein kinase RIO2

RIO Kinase 2 (RIOK2)
RIO Kinase 2 (RIOK2), Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. RIO-type Ser/Thr kinase family. this gene is expressed at high level, 2.0 times the average gene in this release. The gene contains 12 different gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 7 alternatively spliced mRNAs. There are 5 non overlapping alternative last exons and 5 validated alternative polyadenylation sites. The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 3' end, presence or absence of a cassette exon.
RIOK1has been proposed to participate in a process (protein amino acid phosphorylation). Proteins are expected to have molecular functions (ATP binding, nucleotide binding, protein serine/threonine kinase activity, transferase activity) and to localize in various compartments (cytoplasm, nucleus).
