RNA Binding Motif Protein 39 (RBM39)
RBM39 is an RNA binding protein and possible splicing factor. The encoded protein is found in the nucleus, where it colocalizes with core spliceosomal proteins. Studies of a mouse protein with high sequence similarity to this protein suggest that this protein may act as a transcriptional coactivator for JUN/AP-1 and estrogen receptors. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been observed for this gene.
The HCC1 clones encode deduced proteins of 530 amino acids (clone HCC1.4) and 524 amino acids (clone HCC1.3), and the authors suggested that these represent splice variants. Sequence analysis of HCC1 revealed the presence of 15 arginine-serine (RS) motifs, characteristic of mRNA splicing factors.
