Ras Related GTP Binding Protein D (RRAGD)

Ras Related GTP Binding Protein D (RRAGD)
RRAGD is a monomeric guanine nucleotide-binding protein, or G protein. By binding GTP or GDP, small G proteins act as molecular switches in numerous cell processes and signaling pathways.
The deduced 400-amino acid protein contains 3 phosphate/magnesium-binding motifs, 3 guanine nucleotide-binding motifs, and a C-terminal leucine zipper and coiled-coil structure. RRAGD and RRAGC share 81% amino acid homology, including 90% identity in their central portions; the N and C termini are less conserved.RRAGD and RRAGA interact through their C termini. RRAGD associated with both the GDP- and GTP-bound forms of RRAGA, and the subcellular localization of RRAGD depended on the nucleotide-bound state of RRAGA and its localization.
