Regulation Of Nuclear Pre-mRNA Domain Containing Protein 1A (RPRD1A)

P15RS; Cyclin-Dependent Kinase Inhibitor 2B-Related Protein; p15INK4B-Related Protein

Regulation Of Nuclear Pre-mRNA Domain Containing Protein 1A (RPRD1A)
P15RS is upregulated in cells overexpressing cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p15(INK4b) (CDKN2B) and may have a role in cell cycle regulation .
Using differential display and reverse Northern blot analysis, followed by screening an EST database, Liu et al. (2002) isolated P15RS, which had 3.1-fold higher expression in a melanoma cells overexpressing transfected CDKN2B compared to control melanoma cells. The deduced 312-amino acid protein has a predicted molecular mass of 35.7 kD and contains a RAR domain, 2 potential N-glycosylation sites, and a leucine zipper motif. It also contains multiple phosphorylation sites: 4 cAMP/cGMP-dependent protein kinase sites, 3 PKC sites, and 8 casein kinase II sites.
