Rho GTPase Activating Protein 20 (ARHGAP20)

The deduced 1,194-amino acid protein contains a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain. RT-PCR ELISA detected intermediate ARHGAP20 expression in brain, testis, ovary, and spinal cord and in all specific brain regions examined. Lower expression was detected in liver and fetal brain, and little to no expression was detected in other tissues examined.

Expression of ARHGAP20 was upregulated about 6-fold in 18 of 22 BCLL tumors examined compared with normal B cells. However, 2 cases with translocations affecting 1 copy of the ARHGAP20 gene, 1 case with monoallelic deletion of chromosome region 11q22-q23, and 1 case with no chromosome 11 deletion showed about 10-fold downregulation of ARHGAP20 expression.
