Ring Finger Protein 26 (RNF26)

Ring Finger Protein With Leucine Zipper

Ring Finger Protein 26 (RNF26)
RNF26 is a member of the C3HC5 RING finger subfamily. Ring Finger Protein 26contains a C3HC5 type of RING finger, a motif known to be involved in protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions. The expression of this gene was found to be upregulated in cancer cell lines derived from different types of cancer.
Its RING finger domain is 49% homologous to that of CGR19, another C3HC5 RING finger protein. Northern blot analysis detected ubiquitous expression of a 3.2-kb transcript in adult and fetal human tissues. Expression of RNF26 was upregulated in various human cancer cell lines, including promyelocytic leukemia, cervical uterine cancer, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer cell lines, and in 3 of 6 primary gastric cancers.
