Ring Finger Protein 31 (RNF31)

ZIBRA; HOIP; HOIL-1-interacting protein; Zinc in-between-RING-finger ubiquitin-associated domain protein; E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase RNF31

Ring Finger Protein 31 (RNF31)
RING finger protein 31 contains a RING finger, a motif present in a variety of functionally distinct proteins and known to be involved in protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions. The full-length deduced 921-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 102 kD and contains 3 RING finger motifs, an ubiquitin-associated domain, and an in-between RING (IBR) domain characteristic of ubiquitin ligases. RNF31 mRNA and protein, respectively, in both normal and transformed breast epithelial cell lines; however, transformed breast epithelial cells with 3-fold greater RNF31 mRNA showed less protein than normal cells. Treatment of cells with proteasome inhibitor PSI decreased RNF31 protein to undetectable levels while mRNA levels remained unchanged, suggesting that RNF31 undergoes translational regulation.
