SAP30 Like Protein (SAP30L)

The deduced 183-amino acid protein contains 2 potential N-glycosylation sites, 1 N-myristoylation site, and several phosphorylation sites. Transient transfection studies showed that SAP30L localized to the nucleus in small dense bodies that are not PML bodies. Mutation of the SAP30L nuclear localization signal caused the protein to also be expressed throughout the cytoplasm.

SAP30L shares 70% identity with SAP30 and 97% identity with mouse Sap30l. Northern blot detected a 1.30-kb transcript in all human tissues examined, with highest expression in testis, followed by heart, kidney, and placenta. A 6.5-kb transcript had high expression in brain and lung.
