SCY1 Like Protein 3 (SCYL3)

SCYL3 contains an N-terminal myristoylation consensus sequence, followed by a protein kinase domain, 2 tandemly arrayed HEAT motifs composed of pairs of antiparallel alpha helices, and a C-terminal ezrin-binding domain. They also identified a splice variant encoding a deduced 742-amino acid protein that contains an additional 54 amino acids between the HEAT repeats and the ezrin-binding domain. EST database analysis indicated that PACE1 is expressed in breast carcinoma cells and adult colon. Immunofluorescent staining and confocal microscopy of endogenous and transfected PACE1 detected a fine punctate cytoplasmic staining and enrichment in 2 distinct cellular compartments, lamellipodia and the cytoplasmic face of the Golgi apparatus.
