SEC24 Family, Member D (SEC24D)

SEC24-related protein D; Protein transport protein Sec24D

SEC24 Family, Member D (SEC24D)
SEC24D is a member of the SEC24 subfamily of the SEC23/SEC24 family, which is involved in vesicle trafficking. The encoded protein has similarity to yeast Sec24p component of COPII. COPII is the coat protein complex responsible for vesicle budding from the ER. This gene product is implicated in the shaping of the vesicle, and also in cargo selection and concentration. The deduced 1,032-amino acid protein shares 55.4% sequence identity with SEC24C. RT-PCR analysis showed ubiquitous expression that was highest in lung, testis, and ovary, moderate in heart, liver, and pancreas, and lowest in brain, skeletal muscle, kidney, and spleen.SEC24A and SEC24B share about 56% sequence identity, while SEC24C and SEC24D share about 52% identity.
