SHC SH2 Domain Binding Protein 1 (SHCBP1)

SHC SH2 Domain Binding Protein 1 (SHCBP1)
Shcbp1 associates with the p52 and p46 Shc isoforms. Precipitation studies indicated that association of Shcbp1 and Shc is mediated through the SH2 domain of Shc and that this interaction is independent of tyrosine phosphorylation. The deduced 668-amino acid mouse protein has a predicted molecular mass of 75 kD and contains 23 tyrosine residues, several of which are found within good consensus binding motifs for SH2 domains. Northern blot analysis of mouse tissues detected strong expression in testis and lower expression in spleen, lung, and heart. Shcbp1 mRNA expression was observed at all stages of mouse embryonic development, and both Shcbp1 mRNA and protein expression are restricted to tissues containing actively dividing cells and proliferating cells in culture.
