SNF2 Histone Linker PHD RING Helicase (SHPRH)

E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase SHPRH; SNF2, histone-linker, PHD and RING finger domain-containing helicase

SNF2 Histone Linker PHD RING Helicase (SHPRH)
SHPRH is a ubiquitously expressed protein that contains motifs characteristics of several DNA repair proteins, transcription factors, and helicases. The deduced 1,683-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of about 193 kD. SHPRH contains 2 partial SNF2 domains and 1 each of PHD finger, RING finger, linker histone, and DEAD helicase domains. SHPRH also has a nuclear localization signal. The mouse and human proteins share about 86% amino acid identity, and homologous sequences were found in several lower animal species and plant. Northern blot analysis detected a transcript of about 7.5 kb in all human and mouse tissues examined. Expression levels were tissue specific. A minor band of about 9.5 kb was also detected in mouse brain, spleen, and kidney.
