Sensor Of Single Stranded DNA Complex Subunit C (SOSSC)
SOSSC is a subunit of single-stranded DNA (ssDNA)-binding complexes involved in the maintenance of genome stability. Coimmunoprecipitation analysis confirmed that SOSS complexes formed in HeLa cells independent of DNA damage. Recombinant heterotrimeric SOSS complexes specifically bound ssDNA, but not double-stranded DNA. S
OSSB and SOSSC bound overlapping regions on SOSSA, which served as the central assembly factor, and did not interact directly with each other. Both SOSS complexes and the CTIP (RBBP8)/RPA complex acted downstream of the MRE11-RAD50-NBS1 (NBN) complex and functioned in DNA damage repair.
