Serine Hydrolase Like Protein (SERHL)

SHL; SERHL2; Kraken-Like

Serine Hydrolase Like Protein (SERHL)
SERHL contains a putative serine hydrolase active center, prenylation and N-myristoylation sites, several putative phosphorylation sites, an N-glycosylation site, and a C-terminal peroxisomal targeting sequence. Northern blot analysis detected transcripts of 1.4 and 2.4 kb expressed in all mouse tissues examined. Highest levels of both transcripts were detected in kidney, and lowest levels were detected in skeletal muscle and small intestine. Brain predominantly expressed the 2.4-kb form. Western blot analysis detected a Serhl protein with an apparent molecular mass of about 35 kD in mouse skeletal and cardiac muscle, brain, and kidney. Immunolocalization detected Serhl expressed in small perinuclear vesicles in mononucleated mouse myoblasts and recently fused multinucleated myotubes.
