Sex Determining Region Y Box Protein 7 (SOX7)

Transcription factor SOX-7

Sex Determining Region Y Box Protein 7 (SOX7)
SOX7 is a member of the SOX family of transcription factors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of the cell fate. The protein may play a role in tumorigenesis. A similar protein in mice is involved in the regulation of the wingless-type MMTV integration site family (Wnt) pathway.Sox7 was also detected in all adult mouse tissues examined and in embryonic mouse between 9.5 and 17.5 days postcoitum. In situ hybridization of 8-week-old human embryos detected SOX7 in brain, tongue, heart, liver, lung, and vertebrae. In embryonic mouse, Sox7 expression was detected in somites and head region at 8 days postcoitum, and in brain, cochlea, tongue, cartilage, lung, liver, and vertebrae at 17.5 days postcoitum. Epitope-tagged mouse Sox7 localized to the nucleus of transfected COS-7 cells.
