Signal Peptide, CUB Domain, EGF Like 2 (SCUBE2)
By searching for sequences similar to SCUBE1, Yang et al. (2002) identified SCUBE2. RT-PCR detected variable SCUBE2 expression in most human tissues examined. Unlike SCUBE1, which was restricted to endothelial cells, SCUBE2 was expressed in primary human fibroblasts and renal mesangial cells, as well as endothelial cells.
Yang et al. (2002) showed that SCUBE2 formed oligomers with SCUBE1. Lipopolysaccharide injection downregulated expression of Scube1 and Scube2 in mice, suggesting that both are responsive to inflammatory stimuli. The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the SCUBE2 gene to chromosome 11 .
