Solute Carrier Family 25, Member 43 (SLC25A43)

SLC25A43 belongs to the SLC25 family of mitochondrial carrier proteins.By searching databases for SLC25 family members, Haitina et al. (2006) identified 3 splice variants of SLC25A43.

The deduced protein contains 335 amino acids. Quantitative real-time PCR detected variable expression of Slc25a43 in almost all rat tissues examined. Expression was highest in brain coronal sections containing olfactory bulb and cerebral cortex, followed by adrenal gland and skeletal muscle.

Haitina et al. (2006) determined that the SLC25A43 gene contains 5 exons.By genomic sequence analysis, Haitina et al. (2006) mapped the human and mouse SLC25A43 genes to chromosome X.
