Solute Carrier Family 25, Member 47 (SLC25A47)

The deduced full-length protein contains 308 amino acids and shows characteristics of a mitochondrial carrier protein, including 3 conserved tandem repeats of about 100 amino acids each. Each repeat is made up of 2 antiparallel transmembrane hydrophobic alpha helices linked by an extensive hydrophilic region, and the 3 repeats are linked by short extramembranous hydrophilic loops. The N terminus of HDMCP was predicted to be embedded in the inner mitochondrial membrane. HDMCP also has a protein kinase phosphorylation site (ser137). The HDMCP splice variant encodes a deduced 30-amino acid protein due to the introduction of a premature termination codon. Northern blot analysis detected a 1.8-kb transcript in liver only. Epitope-tagged HDMCP localized with a mitochondrial marker in a hepatoma cell line.
