Concentrative Nucleoside Transporter 2 (CNT2)

SLC28A2; HCNT2; SPNT1; Solute Carrier 28 Member 2,Sodium-Coupled Nucleoside Transporter; Sodium/purine nucleoside co-transporter; Sodium/nucleoside cotransporter 2

Concentrative Nucleoside Transporter 2 (CNT2)
SPNT1, Sequence analysis predicted that the 658-amino acid protein, which is 81% identical to rat Spnt, has intracellular N and C termini, 14 membrane-spanning segments, 6 potential N-linked glycosylation sites, which are located intracellularly, and 6 potential protein kinase C phosphorylation sites, 5 of which are intracellular. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of 4.4-, 2.6-, 2.4-, and 1.6-kb transcripts.
The largest transcript was expressed ubiquitously, with strongest expression in heart. The 2.6-kb transcript, which represents the predicted transcript size, was detected in heart, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, and intestine, a distribution that correlates well with the sites of action of purinergic effects.
