Solute Carrier Family 30, Member 1 (SLC30A1)

ZNT1; ZRC1; Zinc Transporter 1

Solute Carrier Family 30, Member 1 (SLC30A1)
Palmiter and Findley (1995) cloned rat Znt1. The 5-prime UTR is GC rich, and the deduced protein contains 507 amino acids. Znt1 has 6 membrane-spanning domains and intracellular N and C termini. Northern blot analysis detected low expression of 2.4- and 7.0-kb transcripts in all mouse tissues examined. Znt1 localized to the plasma membrane of transfected baby hamster kidney cells.
By EST database analysis, Seve et al. (2004) found evidence of moderate SLC30A1 expression in B cells and leukocytes, with lower expression in bone, brain, breast, cervix, colon, head, neck, kidney, lung, ovary, pancreas, parathyroid, placenta, prostate, stomach, and uterus.
